An athlete does not become the best they can be overnight. It is a process that takes a lot of time, and they must be willing to do whatever it takes to get better. Kennedy Lord says that she has put in a lot of time and effort to get to where she is today.
“There has been a lot of hard work and motivation,” she said. “Constantly working to get better and always working on my weaknesses. That is what it has taken for me to get to where I am.”
Lord attends Westmooore High School where she is a junior. She plays middle infield and first base for the Lady Jaguars’ softball team. She first stepped out on the softball field nine years ago.
Other than the work, another thing that has helped Kennedy become the player she is today has been the role model that she has looked up to.
“My older brother has had the biggest influence on my life,” she said. “He plays college baseball and has been someone that I have really looked up to. He has shown me what it takes to be successful. I am proud of him and hope to be as successful as he has been.”
Kennedy says that there has been another person that has been a big help in her life and has been for a few years.
“My favorite teacher would have to be my third-grade math teacher,” she said. “She worked with me years after I was out of the third grade with things that I still struggled with. She was always so helpful and there for me.”
Throughout her career, Kennedy has experienced a lot of great moments and made many great memories. While there are more than she can count, she also says that there is one that stands out as her favorite.
“We made it to the state tournament during my freshman year,” she recalled. “Being able to experience that atmosphere was exciting and something I was glad I was able to experience with my teammates. We are working hard to get back there again this year.”
