VYPE:What are your goals this season?
Jaeya: I had emergency surgery and pins put in my finger in February so my first goal became to heal. My goals this season are to heal up enough after breaking my finger in February to play well in regionals and qualify for state. Then….My goal after that is to of course win state! Physical therapy went great and I was able to make it back in time for conference where I shot a 74.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Jaeya: My sport has taught me that you can’t control everything so you have to learn to be mentally tough. You can have a great round and still lose. You can be extra prepared but get injured. If you love golf as much as I do, it will still break your heart. Golf is similar to life in so many ways. My life is my
course.
VYPE: What does your team mean to you?
Jaeya: My team means a lot to me. They are another support system that I am fortunate to have and some of the girls are my best friends even outside of golf. My team encourages me to be a leader on and off the course. I love the girls on my team and am very thankful for them.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Jaeya: The person who inspires me would be my mom. She is the hardest working, most supportive, and selfless person I know. She always makes sure that I have what I need or want and is there for anything I do. I aspire to have the perseverance she has.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Jaeya: Mimi Hoang is my teammate that has left the biggest impact on me. We have played golf with each other since sixth grade and have been best friends ever since. She has helped push me to be a better player with our friendly competitions. I haven’t been on a golf team without her and haven’t played
golf without her in 6 years.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Jaeya: My favorite part of being on a team is the laughs, sharing stories, support after a tough day and introducing me to some of my best friends. I have made friends for life on this team.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Jaeya: If I could go any place for a summer vacation I would choose Pebble Beach and I would take my mom. We deserve another round.
VYPE: What is the best advice you have ever received?
Jaeya: You learn from your mistakes.

Jaeya: I would like to thank my mom for always supporting me and being there for every tournament/practice. I wouldn’t be the player I am today without her. I also want to thank my teammates and coaches for the support and the best 4 years of golf I had the opportunity to experience with them.
