VYPE: What inspired you to join the choir?
E.H Choir always seemed like an incredible and positive environment. I’ve always loved
music; it was like a big family.
VYPE: How long have you been a member of the choir?
E.H: 1.5 years now
VYPE: What is your favorite song or piece that the choir has performed?
E.H: The Phantom of the Opera Title Song
VYPE: How do you feel when you are singing in the choir?
E.H: When I’m singing, I feel euphoric and like all the stress in life is gone.
VYPE: What role do you usually sing (soprano, alto, tenor, bass)?
E.H: Soprano
VYPE: How do you prepare for a choir performance?
E.H: I drink plenty of water, warm up my voice, and prepare to give a fantastic performance
for the audience.
VYPE: What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in choir?
E.H: Learning songs in different languages is challenging, but my classmates and teacher
help me through it and make it less stressful.
VYPE: How has being in the choir influenced your high school experience?
E.H: Being in choir has helped me gain self-confidence and become more comfortable with
people.
VYPE: What are your future plans regarding music and singing?
E.H: If I get an opponent to join a choir or sing for something in the future, I definitely would.
VYPE: Are you planning to continue singing in a choir after high school?
E.H: I would join a choir in the future if I had the opportunity.
VYPE: How do you balance choir practice with your academic responsibilities?
E.H: I can get all my work done to keep up with the requirements of school and choir.
VYPE: What advice would you give to someone considering joining the choir?
E.H: I would tell people considering joining choir that it’s worth it, and you’ll love the class,
people, and experience.
VYPE: Can you describe a memorable moment you’ve had with the choir?
E.H: The most memorable experiences I had were learning ensembles with people and
being able to go to contests and sing with them.
VYPE: How do you feel the choir has helped you grow as a person?
E.H: I feel choir has dramatically influenced who I am by helping me believe in myself and
become more comfortable and confident.
VYPE: What do you enjoy most about being in the choir?
E.H: I love learning different song styles and hearing how beautiful the notes of a page can
become.
VYPE: Have you participated in any choir competitions or festivals? How was that
experience?
E.H: I’ve competed in 2 contests now, and both have been very nerve-racking, but they’ve
helped me see my strengths and weaknesses and what to work on.
VYPE: Who are your musical inspirations or idols?
E.H: I love Freddie Mercury and Alex Turner.
VYPE: How do you handle performance anxiety or nervousness before a show?
E.H: The choir members are very good at making people more comfortable and overcoming
performance anxiety by talking them through it and encouraging them.
VYPE: What has been the most rewarding part of being in the choir?
E.H: The most rewarding part of being in choir is the people and environment. I’ve met
some of the best people in the choir, and it’s such a comfortable setting.
VYPE: How do you think being in the choir has prepared you for the future?
E.H: Being in choir has prepared me for the future by teaching me patience, proper
learning practices, and becoming more comfortable around people.
VYPE: Do you have any plans to pursue music education or a career in music?
E.H: I don’t plan to pursue an education/career in music, but it’ll still be a big part of my life.
VYPE: How do you stay motivated and passionate about singing?
E.H: I stay motivated and passionate about singing by looking at myself in the past and
seeing how much I’ve grown.
VYPE: What are some of your favorite memories from choir trips or events?
E.H: . The bus rides to and from competitions and concerts are some of my best
experiences, with everyone singing random songs and encouraging people around them.
VYPE: How do you think the choir has impacted your relationships with other students and
teachers?
Being in choir has dramatically improved my people skills and my ability to talk to people
now.
VYPE: How has your choir teacher impacted your performance?
My choir teacher makes every student around her feel unique and confident in
themselves. She’s an amazing teacher and motivator.
