Westmoore High School varsity softball player Delaynie Frazee is stepping into the new season with confidence in both her game and her team. Summer workouts and games have set the tone for what she believes could be a special year for the Lady Jags. “They are going good!! What I am learning about this team is that we can all have fun together and that we mesh really well!”
Frazee is a versatile presence on the field, splitting time at catcher and third base, and she has clear priorities for her individual development. “I play catcher and 3rd base. I am working on fielding abilities and improving my mental game.” Her focus on both physical skills and mindset reflects the leadership role she carries within a group she describes as deep and experienced. “We have a lot of depth in this team. We have strong upperclassman leaders that have a lot of experience. We also have a big freshman class coming in for this upcoming year.”
As one of those leaders, Frazee is intent on setting the right standard for her teammates every day. “Play loose and free and set the tone early, bring lots of energy and win every moment.” She enjoys the balance of intensity and fun that defines the Lady Jags. “We are very competitive, and we can have fun with also getting the job done.” Away from the diamond, she has made it a point to stay grounded and prepared. “Getting stronger in the gym and making memories with family.”
Frazee believes teammate Madison Hauck will turn heads this season and wants to be remembered at Westmoore as more than just a standout player. “I work hard. I’m a leader and I’m someone that others can come to if they need anything.” Looking ahead, her goals extend beyond high school. “Go to college to play softball and then pursue sonography.”
