Westmoore’s Bryanna Madden
For Westmoore High School senior Bryanna Madden, cross country is built on individual effort, but its greatest rewards come from the team standing alongside her.
A varsity runner for the Lady Jaguars, Madden helped Westmoore’s girls cross country team reach the state championship meet, a milestone that carried special meaning for the program.
“My proudest accomplishment was I got to be a part of helping the girls cross country team make it to the state championship as the 7th runner on the team. This was not only a great personal accomplishment but also a major team victory since it was the first time that the girls have made it to state as a team since 2016.”
Madden’s confidence has also grown in the classroom. She credits AP Chemistry teacher Mrs. Revene for challenging her during her junior year and helping her recognize her academic potential.
“My favorite teacher was my AP Chemistry teacher that I had in my 11th grade year, Mrs. Revene. She constantly pushed me to be confident in my academic abilities, and she guided me through the class each time I had struggles. After I left the AP exam and once I finished her class, I felt significantly more confident in myself.”
After high school, Madden plans to pursue a future in health care. She is inspired by the commitment and sacrifice of health care professionals and hopes to bring the same mindset she developed through cross country into that career.
“Given the opportunity to see the daily lives healthcare workers, I find them very inspiring knowing how difficult it is to not only work in health care but also how difficult it is to make sacrifices to better the lives of others. As someone who wants to work in healthcare in my future, I admire their strength and mindsets.”
