Westmoore High School’s Tenley Hyde is the “Talk of the Tailgate” as this senior looks to help lead the Westmoore cheer squad into the 2022 season.
An eight-year veteran of cheer, Tenley has spent six of those doing school cheer. She loves her team and her teammates.
“What I love about my team is we know how to have fun together. Practices can be rough sometimes and very stressful but there will always be someone there to put a smile on your face and push you to do your best,” Tenley said.
Being part of the Friday night atmosphere at Westmoore and being on the sideline for the games for Tenley is the best part about being in cheer.
“Friday night football games are my favorite part of cheer. Being able to be down on the field and leading the crown and student section is just a lot of fun,” Tenley said. “My favorite moment of a game is right after half time the drum line comes down on the track with us and plays. It always gets everyone hyped and ready for the second half.”
Tenley has attended Moore Public Schools her entire life and said being part of the Moore family is something special.
“I have lived in the Moore public school district my whole life and since elementary school have been exited to be a jaguar. Westmoore is like home, everyone I go to school with I have grown up with and it’s just a great environment,” said Tenley.
Her future plans are to attend Oklahoma State University and major in business. Tenley said she will miss being on the sideline for the Jaguars.
“The thing I will miss most about Friday night games is the energy the student section and the band gives off. Without those, Friday night games wouldn’t be the same,” Tenley said. “After the game, the cheerleaders and the football players gather together and sing the Alma Mater with the student section and band.”
When it’s time to find something to eat, Tenley said her go-to order at Taco Bueno is the Mucho Nachos. Look for Tenley and her teammates cheering on the Westmoore Jaguars this season and competing at the state competition in late September.
