9 Questions with Westmoore’s Boston Quigel – Presented by Christian Brothers

VYPE: Boston, how long have you competed in track and what events do you compete in?

Quigel: I’ve been doing track for three years now and my events this season are the 4×400 and pole vault.

VYPE: Do you play any other sports at WHS?

Quigel: I used to play soccer for about nine years when I was younger until I started high school then I switched to track.

VYPE: What’s your favorite memory competing for the Jaguars?

Quigel: My favorite memory will always be when I first got 11-feet my sophomore year in pole vault since I was injured and had a big knee brace on but I still got a new personal record and my mom was there to support me.

VYPE: Has she been a big influence in your life?

Quigel: My mom is a big reason why I’m in track and I would love to be just like her when I’m older because of how kind, loving and supportive she is.

VYPE: Tell me about your teammates. Who keeps everyone laughing and who is the most serious?

Quigel: Chason is the one that keeps everyone up and motivated to do their best while making jokes making everyone have a good time. Kolton Bennet is I think very serious and wants to only do his best.

VYPE: Who should we be watching when Westmoore is on the track?

Quigel: You should definitely be looking at Chason with hurdling and Landon Abjornson with pole vault.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite sports figure?

Quigel: My favorite sports figure would be Michael Turk who was a OU punter for the football team and now has a YouTube channel called Hangtime where he does fun stuff while teaching everyone about the gospel.

VYPE: What are your plans after you graduate?

Quigel: After I graduate, I’m hopefully going to Southern Nazarene University for computer science while having a tech internship at MPS.
VYPE: What do you love most about being a student-athlete at WHS?
Quigel: Being a Westmoore athlete is great because of my coaches and teammates since they help me get better and be my best self while holding me to a standard.
