OFFENSE
A new era begins at Westmoore High School as coach David White takes over the Jaguar program. White is looking to build on what the team accomplish prior to taking the helm. “Looking to build on last year’s success and create a competitive culture. We’re young all around and need to develop our kids,” said White. Several players return with experience including quarterback Tre Lewis (6-2, 175, Sr.) who will run the air-pistol, 10 personnel offense that features the air raid philosophies of teams who love to put the ball in the air. One target Lewis will look for is Jaden Hunter (5-8, 150, Sr.). Hunter is a game changer with a competitive streak the drives him to be the best. Many see Hunter as a next-level type player. Tight end Vidal Ortiz (6-3, 210, Sr.) could be used in multiple ways either in the passing game, run game or as an H-back getting him the ball in space. Bryce Collier (5-9, 160, Jr.) and Anthony Norris (6-1, 170, So.) are two wide receivers the Jaguars will have in the lineup and on the field. Offensive tackle Preston Ingleheart (6-3, 305, Sr.) is the building block in which coach White will build his offensive line. Ingleheart will allow the Jaguars to have a two-back package in short yardage situations. Connor McKee joins Ingleheart on the line at guard where he loves to compete. Sophomore QB Noah Smith has a tremendous amount of potential but needs to earn the role of leader on this team. When his teammates get behind him, Smith could have a breakout season.
DEFENSE
A few familiar names will make their way to the defensive side of the ball as coach White and defensive coordinator Jimmy Northrip look to get the best 11 on the field in a pass-happy league. It all starts up front with John Hermosillo (6-0, 290, Sr.) at tackle. Hermosillo is tough, strong and a superior athlete on the line. Behind him is Ortiz, who will make life difficult for anyone with the ball in their hands. Ortiz gets the start at OLB with Devin Lacroix (5-10, 190, Sr.), who is another backer flying around the field making plays. Joseph Coffey (6-1, 275, Sr.) can slide inside at tackle or outside and contain the edge at end. Coffey will also see time on the offensive line at guard. Gavin Gagnon (6-0, 270, Sr.) adds another element of danger to the DL for the Jags. The 3-4 scheme could be one of the top defensive lines in the class. Hunter brings his athleticism to the defense at corner. You’re not running past Hunter so expect every pass his way to be contested. The coaching staff includes Dustin Finn (OL), Juaquin Iglesias (WR), Otis Lewis (RB), Demarcus Granger (DL), Dylan Hopson (OLB), Jeremy Walker (ILB), Dwight Dobbins Jr. (DB), and Colin Hurley (Asst. DB).
