Q&A with Westmoore’s Josiah Kemp – Presented by Silver Leaf Animal Hospital

VYPE: What has baseball taught you that you use in your daily life?

Josiah Kemp: Baseball has taught me integrity which is doing what is right when no one is looking. I use this in my daily life with academics. When the teacher isn’t in the classroom I still do everything I’m supposed to when no one is watching.

VYPE: What do you like most about playing your position?

JK: I am a centerfielder. My favorite part of my position is making diving catches.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

JK: My mom inspires me in baseball. She is my biggest supporter and has been there for me since I was born. If she didn’t make the sacrifices she did, I wouldn’t be here today.

VYPE: What teammate leaves the biggest impression and why?

JK: My teammate Eli Hill has left the biggest impact on me for multiple reasons. He was a great leader who taught me how to be one by the actions he made. The way he loves God so much made a big impact on me as well.

VYPE: What is your favorite baseball memory?

JK: Winning the state championship. It was a core memory that will never be forgotten.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

JK: Do the little things right. Doing the little things right will set you apart from the rest and that is a game changer.

VYPE: Do you have any hobbies?

JK: I love to golf as a hobby. I’m not bad at it. I have taught myself to be pretty good.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school?

JK: Go to college, ball out, and then get drafted and make it to the majors.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout to anyone you wish.

JK: My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without him, I wouldn’t be where I am today. My mother is a big contributor too, along with my uncle Matt, my dad, and my grandparents. I also want to shoutout to my mentors who have helped me along the journey.
